Additional Opportunities:

  • Peninsula School of Art is located in the center of Door County - a 70 mile long region in northeast Wisconsin containing 34 named islands, dozens of lakeside towns, and more picturesque farms and orchards than we can count. With its unique natural environment and rich cultural history, Door County has inspired artists for generations. Door County features a number of galleries and artist studios, performing arts venues, miles of county and state park trails, lighthouses, and a restaurant with goats on the roof.

  • The program prioritizes time and space for its residents to engage fully in their creative practice—creating uninterrupted opportunities to experiment and pursue new projects and ideas.

  • Access to a printmaking, digital, metals, and ceramics studio

  • Residents are given the opportunity to have a studio visit with the session’s visiting critic. Accomplished artists, educators, and curators come as a Visiting Critic and offer a range of perspectives, experiences, and thoughts. Studio visits are one hour long and are designed to strengthen and support the advancement of resident’s work and their engagement with the larger art world.

  • Opportunities for meaningful engagement and exchange are built into each residency session, including a Meet the Residents video and End-of-Session Studio Tour open to the public.

  • There are a variety of other public programs held throughout each residency session, including series classes and workshops, local artists renting studio space who are interested in the self directed creation of work in a communal setting.

  • Monthly critique group sessions, exhibition openings, lectures and family-friendly activities

  • The residency experience is not product-oriented or tied to a specific project proposal
