Length: 3 residency programs:
Teaching Artist Residency - Short Term: 6 weeks (mid April-end of May) — (Ideal applicants have an established studio practice and are experienced in teaching adult-level classes)
Artists in Community Artist Residency - Short Term: 6 or 8 weeks (end of May-end of July) or (end of July-mid September) — (Connect with the broader island community, share skills, work collaboratively, and create art in a dynamic and supportive environment)
Special Projects Artist Residency - Short Term: 6 or 8 weeks (mid April-end of May) or (end of May-end of July) or (end of July-mid September) — (For artists who are interested in developing a special project that will remain at Alchemy after they leave)
Housing: Semi-outdoor, individual, rustic, woodland, 10’x10’ shelters. Shelters are connected via narrow dirt paths through the trees with a shared communal bathroom and kitchen space with up to 8 other people. Sleeping cabins are furnished with a twin or full bed, a mosquito net, a lamp, an outlet, and a rack, shelf, or dresser for clothes and other belongings. Cabins are in close proximity to each other, and have more of a community feel. (WiFi is spotty)
Kilns: -up to ^6 and done by Alchemy kiln technician

Expenses: Materials and clays at cost
Funding/Stipend:
Artists in Community Artist Residency: Receive a personal living stipend of $100 per week
Special Projects Artist Residency: Receive a personal living expense stipend of $100 per week
Workspace: Shared community workspace with a personal shelf for storage
Responsibilities: Work exchange of 12-15 hours/week contributing to Alchemy Art Center’s community engagement. (ie. teaching adult level classes, leading free workshops in the park, mentoring small groups of young people, or simply interacting with Alchemy’s many studio members and visitors)

Other media studio access includes printmaking, dark room, photography, and screen printing
Participate in a large garden, care for chickens, and enjoy a wood-fired hot tub
Alchemy also features a geodesic dome building which is frequently used for yoga, meditation, art installations, events, etc.
Connect with the wider SJI community via teaching and outreach activities, and have focused time to create art in an environment that supports collaborations, cross-pollination, and innovation
Final exhibition in the dome space at Alchemy
Present an artist talk at the San Juan Islands Museum of Art
Participate a shared vendor booth at the San Juan Island Farmers Market
Secondary location at a lavender farm down the road recently acquired. This will allow AAC to possibly offer additional housing and studios in the future.
Lime Kiln State Park is ten minutes away where there is hiking, a lighthouse and whale watching
