Location: Pomona, CA

Length: Short Term: 6 months — Long Term: 12 months - July-June / September-August

Applications: Open each year during the month of January. For the 2026-27 cycle, the deadline was January 31st

Eligibility: Applicants must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents/green card holders, have DACA status, or otherwise be U.S. permanent residents. Six-month applicants must also live in Southern California and close enough to maintain at least 20 hours/week of active studio time.

Housing: 12 month residents receive a $1,000/month housing stipend and are responsible for arranging their own accommodations

Kilns:

  • 5 — Electric kilns

  • 1 — 10 cu. ft. gas kiln

  • 2 — 20 cu. ft. gas kilns

  • 1 — 40 cu. ft. gas kiln

  • 1 — 120 cu. ft. gas kiln (excellent for large sculptural work)

  • 1 — Soda kiln

  • 1 — Salt kiln

Expenses: None

Funding/Stipend:

  • $100/week living stipend

  • Most materials and firing fees waived

  • 12 month residents receive a $1,000/month accommodations stipend

Workspace: Semi-private personal studio space and a large open ceramics studio with slab rollers, extruder, multiple wheel types, glaze/materials area, mixer, pugmill, electric kilns, and atmospheric kilns with 24/7 access

Responsibilities: Expected to teach classes and workshops, sell work in gallery shop, attend workshops, give two artist lectures, attend museum openings, load and fire own work, and participate in studio visits with touring guests around AMOCA

Number of Residents: 2 long term residents and 1 short term resident at a time
