Length: 3 residency programs:
The Greenhouse Residency: Short Term 4 week sessions (December-March) (A project based, self-directed residency intended to provide opportunities for community-led teaching and learning experiences through workshops, programming and events)
Long Term Residency: 8 months (October-May)
Practicing Artists in Retreat: Varied (Gives practicing artists an opportunity to live and create on Mendocino Art Center’s campus)
Housing: Each long term resident has their own furnished studio apartment, outfitted with a queen bed and seating with a shared kitchen and shared bathroom. Greenhouse residents are given a private studio apartment with a private kitchen and bathroom. (Greenhouse residency is family friendly)
Kilns:
2 Electric kilns
2 Gas kilns
1 Train wood kiln
1 Catenary arch wood/soda kiln
Expenses:
Residents pay for the cost of propane when firing the gas kilns and are responsible for wood procurement when firing the wood kilns
Long Term Residency: Resident fee of $700/month
The Greenhouse Residency: Requests sliding scale contributions from $1,000-$2,500 per resident
Practicing Artists in Retreat: $2,500/month
Funding/Stipend:
The Greenhouse Residency: Sliding scale fee
Practicing Artists in Retreat: Scholarships may be available
Workspace: 10’ x 10’ personal studio in a shared studio space
Responsibilities: 5 hours/week work share assisting MAC doing studio maintenance, kiln loading, etc.
Number of Residents: The Greenhouse Residency: 6 artists at a time — Long Term Residency: 4 artists

End of residency group exhibition
The Greenhouse Residency:
Invited to host an open studio sharing their work, research or residency experience with the community
Each session will include scheduled and spontaneous meals, workshops and gatherings for residents, as well as other opportunities to build community
They will publish a small print publication to memorialize the work created by the winter residents
The area around Mendocino is saturated with woodfire artists and kilns
Opportunity and support in interdisciplinary media (ie. small metals and blacksmithing)

Within walking distance to the Mendocino Headlands
Live in close proximity to each other and are encouraged to build community
