Length: 3 Short Term Options:

  • Juried Artists-in-Residence: 12 days - (May 29-June 11)

  • Self-Guided Residencies: 1-4 weeks

  • Group Residencies: 1-4 weeks

  • Cohort Program: 1-3 years (no housing included)

Housing: 2 living options; dependent on availability:

  • Private bedroom in a three bedroom, shared living space, bathroom and kitchenette

  • An ADA-compliant, private, one bed, one bath apartment (family and partner friendly)

Kilns:

  • 2 — 1027 Skutt electric kilns

  • 1 — Short Skutt electric kiln

  • 1 — Small test electric kiln

  • 1 — Raku kiln

  • 1 — Mobile wood kiln

Expenses:

  • Material cost

  • Residency fee: $180 for 1 week, $355 for 2 weeks, $530 for 3 weeks and $715 for 4 weeks

  • Lodging fee: $50/night for private room in shared living space — $125/night for private one bedroom apartment

  • One-time cleaning fee: $50 for 1-2 week residents and $100 for 3-4 week residents

  • Cohort Program: $175/month studio fee

Funding/Stipend:

  • 1 free bisque for 1 week residents, 2 free bisques for 2 week residents, 1 bisque and 1 glaze firings for 3 week residents and 1-2 bisques and 1-2 glaze firings for 4 week residents

  • Cohort Program: $600/year

  • Partial Scholarships available

Workspace: Studio space in a cooperative studio setting

Number of Residents: Resident Artists: space for 4 artists - number dependent on space availability — Cohort Program: 3 artists

Additional Opportunities:

  • Optional paid teaching opportunities

  • Participate in GMAC’s Members Show that takes place annually

  • Studios at GMAC: ceramics, printmaking, writing room, and multi-discipline studios

  • Select number of photo shoots offered with a Cook County photographer to help artists develop their portfolios

  • Space and time for artists to do their work

  • An emphasis on creating an environment of creative freedom to support the process and development of new works

  • Time allowing for a combination of aesthetic inquiry, creative risk-taking, experimentation and artistic development
